“Plasco Trac has helped reduce tardiness. It has also facilitated the tracking of detentions served and not served.”
Before implementing PlascoTrac, administrators at Alta Loma High School struggled to enforce consistent disciplinary consequences across their 2,800-student campus. The administration set out with some big goals. They wanted to create a system that would automate their ability to track and enforce student infractions such as tardiness, dress code violations and everything in between.

Alta Loma High School in Alta Loma, CA (Chaffey Joint Union High School District)Number of Students: 2,800Customer since October 2008Application: Using PlascoTrac to monitor tardiness, dress code violations, electronic device violations, student conduct at events, positive student spirit activities and to award merit pointsCara Cerecerez, Assistant Principal |
Alta Loma High School Assistant Principal Cara Cerecerez first learned about PlascoTrac when an email message from Plasco ID caught her eye. After speaking with a product representative and visiting PlascoTrac.com to watch the online demo, she realized the comprehensive system Alta Loma needed had already been built! Cerecerez submitted a proposal to her school administration to request funding for the project, and to her surprise and delight, received a quick approval to purchase the system.
Before implementing PlascoTrac, an average of 161 students arrived late to their first period class every morning. After implementing PlascoTrac and providing consistent discipline for infractions, the average is now a mere 25 students tardy to first period. PlascoTrac helped Alta Loma High School reduce student tardiness by two-thirds!
“PlascoTrac has drastically improved student punctuality. The students run to class!” declares Cerecerez. “The system is wonderful and adds a great amount of accountability as well as consistency for our students.”
PlascoTrac has evolved to be an integral tool for the Alta Loma administration and teaching staff. The system is presently used to track tardiness, dress code issues, electronic device violations, confiscated cell phones, student conduct at events, and many other disciplinary infractions that occur at ALHS. On the positive side, PlascoTrac is used to help execute the district’s positive behavior reinforcement programs. Using PlascoTrac, the school tracks and rewards constructive behaviors, such as participation in school spirit activities, with merit points.
Alta Loma also uses PlascoTrac to monitor event attendance. At a recent school dance, teachers used PlascoTrac to monitor risqué student dancing using a three strike policy. Consequences ranged from five minutes off the dance floor to being sidelined for the remainder of the evening. Very quickly, teachers began to notice good-natured self-policing among the students, and credited PlascoTrac for helping to make the event a huge success.
Alta Loma High School is now looking ahead to what PlascoTrac may help them accomplish in the future. In the 2009-2010 school year, they hope to receive funding to purchase PlascoTrac Mobile handheld devices that will be used outside of the school walls to assist with student parking permits and violations, as well as other incentive-based off-campus programs.
